Change Co.

“Every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want.” – Anna Lappe

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and start this post off with sad news but I’ve heard from Lydia at  Change Co. and she’s let me know that continuing the distribution of their amazing subscription boxes just isn’t sustainable for the company so I won’t be able to get my hands on one. I have to say, I’m devastated. Having only recently discovered Change Co., I was so looking forward to getting one of their ‘Seasonal boxes’ in my hot little hands. Alas, it just wasn’t meant to be.

BUT…… that doesn’t mean that they are shutting their proverbial doors! On the contrary, Lydia and Meridith hope to continue their work with artisans around the globe and become ‘the place to  go’ for consumers looking to purchase ‘do-good’ products from socially conscious retailers. So with that in mind, let me tell you a little about the company.

Change Co. is an American owned retailer that sole purpose is to connect you with products that change the world for the better.  Every product featured by Change Co. has been painstakingly researched and selected for the positive impact its purchase will have on the world and it’s people. From human trafficking victims, to clean water initiatives in developing nations, to the education and empowerment of women and children in poverty; Change Co. is committed to giving back and creating a positive ripple effect that will make a real difference.

So, how do they do that? Not only do they meticulously research the products and their makers to ensure that you are purchasing only products that have been produced ethically, but each social enterprise they choose to partner with as well, so that you can put a story, a face or a cause to your purchase.  Change Co. has worked with Tree Tribe to plant 2,000 trees around the globe, with This Bar Saves Lives to provide 200 meal packs to children around the world effected by acute malnutrition and collaborated with Girl Up, empowering young girls with greater access to education in areas like Guatemala, Uganda and Ethiopia.

The Change Co. marketplace is filled to bursting with beautiful homewares, jewellery, scarves, bags and even beauty products.  The thing I love the most is that each product is labelled with the cause you will be supporting when you purchase.  One of my favorites is ‘The Modern Woman’ bundle.  The total retail value is $102 USD but Change Co. has managed to curate the entire package for only $50 USD.

  • The Stunning Sagar Scarf from Bloom and Give is handcrafted and HALF of the profits go toward the education of young girls in India.
  • The Mia clutch is hand stitched in Haiti by artisans at the Haitian Design Co, providing life changing employment opportunities.
    • The Copper Cuff is made by survivors of human trafficking from Branded Collective. Each cuff is hand stamped with your unique number and the initials of the woman who made it.  These can be used to send an encouraging message to these amazing, strong-willed, beautiful women.

There are some so many fantastic bundles that would be brilliant gifts or if you just want a treat for yourself, you can feel a bit less guilty about spending that extra money because you know your making a difference in the world.  (That’s what I tell myself, anyway).  There great products for guys, too, and ‘Fathers Day’ is coming up in the US!

International shipping isn’t available yet (though I’m assured they hope to get there one day) but I use a great freight forwarding company called and their shipping prices are quite reasonable to Australia so I’ll be filling up my mailbox very quickly.

Happy shopping! I hope you love Change Co. as much as I do.
