Rapunzel or Bust? Pump Hair Care Limited Edition Growth Value Pack: Part 1

Recently, after a disastrous trip to the hair salon, instead of discussing my disappointment with my stylist, I shaved my head down to a number 3. Yes, I know! This was definitely not a rational decision and I have since moved on.  The silver lining? I am now in an ideal position to try natural hair growth products and after some research, I discovered Pump Hair Care!  An Australian owned company creating organic, cruelty free, 100% natural hair care products? This one was a no brainer and after reading through some of the online reviews, most of them 5 star, I had to try these miracle products for myself (and for you, of course).   Now, what annoys me about a lot of product reviews is the blatant and over the top praise so I’m going to try not to do that here.  These products definitely have some positive aspects to them but no product or company is perfect so honesty is what you’ll get from me, 100% of the time.  This is not a paid review and I did not receive any free products for this post.  All up, my order cost was $188.95 with free shipping.

The Package

After checking out all the products available, I went for the Limited Edition Pump Growth Value Pack and I also grabbed a Pump Shampoo Brush.  I figured I might as well go all out and seeing as I now have almost no hair, if this works the results should be pretty dramatic and easy to see.

The Products

Step 1: Pump Liquid Gold Growth Oil Treatment

This is a pre-wash treatment that you massage into your hair and scalp, focusing on the roots, and let sit for 20 minutes.  First of all, this product LOOKS gorgeous! In its clear bottle you can see a golden shimmer floating in the oil. oilIt comes with a pump dispenser, minimising mess and wastage, which I think is great because my beauty regime has a budget.  BUT what really blew me away was the scent! Banana Cinnamon muffins! I don’t know if that was intentional on Natasha’s part but I am in love with that smell!  Truly, I didn’t want to wash it out.

Step 2: Pump Hair Growth Shampoo and Pump Shampoo Brush

Because this is a completely natural shampoo there are limited suds which was a little shampoohard to get used to, and as disappointed as I was to wash that delicious smell out of my hair, popping open the shampoo was like Christmas! Candy Canes to be precise.  So far, this test drive has been a scent spectacular. IMG_3105_1024x1024@2x You only need to use a small amount, which for me (with so little hair) was a dollop the size of a 20 cent coin. Once I’d rubbed the shampoo into my hair and gotten a little lather I used the shampoo brush to massage my scalp for around three minutes (I really need a shower timer).

Step 3: Pump Hair Growth Conditioner

Christmas continues with the conditioner. The candy canes are ever-present here too! conditionerAs with the shampoo, you only need a small amount of the product and however short my hair is, it’s incredibly thick so I did need to used a touch more than when washing.  The formula is light and non greasy and should be massaged into the roots of your hair and the scalp for an additional three minutes.

Step 4: Pump Hair Growth Mask

The final step in the hair growth routine is the mask, a much more delicately scented product to finish up with, but still a lovely end to the process. It’s a light, creamy productmask that you massage into your roots and scalp.  The mask can then be rinsed after 10 minutes or left in overnight.  I decided to leave it in overnight and was initially concerned that it would be sticky or clumpy or ruin my pillow but after it dried I couldn’t tell it was there at all.

Step 5: Pump Lash & Brow Growth Serum

A 100% natural serum chock full of ingredients to darken, thicken and lengthen lashes lashesand brows.  Well, that’s what the website says.  It comes with a wand applicator just like your mascara so it’s super easy to apply. I went with just the lashes for this review but if it works, I’ll give the brows a try too.

The Business End

Ordering was a snap.  The website is organised, easy to follow and has clear descriptions and great photo’s of the product line, and every product page shows a full ingredients list for each item. Pump also accepts Afterpay so for anyone not used to ordering so many products at once, there is the option to pay off your purchase. I recieved an email within 60 seconds confirming my order and also got regular shipping and delivery updates. My order was shipped the next day and delivered to my Melbourne address in 3 business days I ordered right before Easter weekend so I was definitely happy with that.

My goodies arrived in a plain white postage box with a Pump Hair Care Sticker, simple and clean, when I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised which doesn’t happen often these days.  IMG20180404202820The products came packed in 2 separate travel bags, protected by tissue paper and butchers paper and any lids that could possibly leak in transit were taped closed.  Included was a brief flyer explaining the origins of the ingredients, the organic and cruelty free status of the company and showing the contact email for any questions.  And as a bonus, a VIP 10% discount code for my next purchase.  The packaging has a spa look to it without the feeling of pretension.  You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the way the brand is perceived.

To get the blatant praise out-of-the-way, using this package is like taking a trip to a bakery with Scrooge’s ghost of Christmas Past giving you a scalp massage. I truly don’t think I’ve ever used a product that smelled so stupidly fantastic.  Even my banana muffins don’t smell as edible as these products.  Ordering the shampoo brush is something I will never regret, EVER! If you love getting a good head scratch, that brush is going to be your new best friend.

From a practical view, the package felt like an extravagant choice for me. I don’t usually spend a lot of money on my hair care so this was seriously out of character for me. In saying that, the fact that you use so little of each product in one use means that it isn’t something your going to need to buy every month.

The only real negatives for me were the lack of suds when using the shampoo (which is something I need to get used to) and that the lash growth serum did feel quite heavy on my lashes; the serum absorbed well though so any noticable weight faded within 5 minutes.  It would also be an awesome touch if packages like this one came with an instructional booklet, letting you know how much of each product to use and the order to use them in; but maybe now I’m just getting greedy?

All in all, I am super satisfied with my first encounter with Pump Hair Care and only time will tell if I’m set to be Rapunzel by the end of the year.  Any wagers? Stay tuned for Part 2.
